Heathers
in Michael Lehmann’s, 1988 cult classic, at Westerburg High where cliques rule, jocks dominate and all the popular girls are named Heather, it's going to take a Veronica and mysterious new kid to give teen angst a body count. Source
While Heathers won't strike most fans as a big "foodie" movie, there are some fantastic food-related lines and scenes that add to the dark humor of the movie. So lick it up, baby. Lick it up.
“Corn nuts!”
The Scene: Heather wakes up, and greets Veronica and J.D in a sarcastic tone. Veronica talks about their argument, then J.D offers her the cup, calling it a hangover cure (not telling Heather that it is actually Draino). Heather refuses but takes the cup after J.D says he knew it would be too intense for her. She drinks it in a singular big sip, beginning to choke and gag, dry-heaving and walking in front of her glass coffee table, exclaiming "Corn nuts." before crashing into the coffee table, dying and shattering it. Fun Fact: The initial script for Heathers was much longer and featured more violence. When Waters finished his first draft of Heathers (which was the first script he'd ever written), it was 200 pages long, which would have roughly amounted to a three-hour film. The body count was higher, too; not even the editor of the school newspaper survived. Source

Today we will be making:
Roasted Corn Nuts
Corn nuts, also known as toasted corn, are a snack food made of roasted or deep-fried corn kernels.
Ingredients
14 ounce bag Giant White Corn
1/4 cup coconut oil or vegetable oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon sea salt
Directions
Soak the giant white corn overnight, for approximately 12-14 hours. Rinse and drain
Preheat the oven to 400F
Toss corn with oil, sugar and salt in a large bowl
Place corn in single layer on a nonstick baking sheet Y
Bake for 30-40 minutes or until slightly browned. Every 10 minutes stir corn on the baking sheet. Keep a eye on them and remove immediately when they are brown as they can burn quickly
Let cool and enjoy! Store in mason jar or sealed bag
Why This Recipe Works
It’s easy. Besides soaking the corn overnight, these are quick and easy to make.
It’s cheap. A 16 oz bag of corn runs about $2.50 in the store, other ingredients like seasonings I always have on hand.
And, you can pick your own ingredients. I actually like these corn nuts better than the packaged kind because they aren’t so hard on my teeth. Also I like the simple seasoning of salt and sugar.
Pro Tips
This is a 24-hour recipe, so be sure to plan ahead!
Put parchment paper down first on the baking sheet if you'd like to make it a easier cleanup
“We’ll just concoct her a little hangover cure that will, uh, induce her to spew red white and blue…”
The Scene: Veronica and J.D arrive to Heather's home in the morning, in order to get revenge and humiliate Heather for what went down the previous night at the party. Veronica thinks about giving her a mixture of orange juice and milk, asking how ad it'll cause her to vomit, but J.D instead holds up drain-cleaner and suggests giving it to her instead. Veronica disagrees, saying it will kill her. Veronica continues to suggest things, but J.D just says to go with "big blue here.". After Veronica points out she would never drink anything like that, he pours it into a solid cup. Veronica calls him a jerk and pours orange juice and milk into a cup, that looks exactly like the one J.D put the liquid drainer in. She grabs the cup of liquid drainer accidentally, as she kisses J.D. He notices, but just says nevermind after almost telling Veronica.
Fun Fact: There was a real life murder involving its victim drinking Drano. The Hi-Fi murders were the torture of five people resulting in three deaths during a robbery at the Hi-fi Shop, a home audio store in Ogden, Utah, United States, on the evening of April 22, 1974. Several men entered the Hi-fi Shop shortly before closing time and began taking hostages. They forced their victims to drink corrosive drain cleaner, which the perpetrators believed would fatally poison their hostages, but instead caused burns to their mouths and throats. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi-Fi_murders

Today we will be making:
Blue Velvet Pudding
Easy, no bake pudding trifle recipe, homemade with simple ingredients with layers of vanilla pudding, blueberries, marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkles and sugar decorations.
Ingredients
2 ½ cups whole milk
½ cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Blue food coloring
Decorations:
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup blueberries
Whipped cream
2 tablespoon sprinkles
Directions
Add 2 cups milk and sugar in a non-stick saucepan and place on medium heat. Mix until sugar dissolves completely
Now, in a small mixing bowl, add cornstarch, remaining ½ cup milk and egg yolks. Stir everything together until there are no lumps. Keep aside
When the sugar dissolves in the milk completely, add the cornstarch/egg mixture into the saucepan while stirring. Don't stop stirring or you will end up with lumpy pudding!
Keep stirring until the pudding thickens
Then, remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and butter
Divide the pudding into two bowls and add blue food coloring. Make sure both the puddings are a different shade (one should be dark blue and one should be light blue).
Allow the puddings to chill in the fridge until they set. This takes about 2 hours
Then, assemble everything. Add dark blue pudding at the bottom of a small glass cup. Add some mini marshmallows on the top. Toss some blueberries. Then, spread some light blue pudding on top of all that
Pipe a swirl of whipped cream on top
Decorate with sprinkles
Why This Recipe Works
No bake!
It uses egg yolks, which make it ultra rich and creamy and super decadent
It’s customizable—use mini marshmallows, sprinkles, nuts, shredded coconut, mini candies, sugar decorations or even toothpick cupcake toppers
Variations for blue winter pudding cups include serving it in a large bowl instead of individual mini cups, and trying other colors so you can make it for any event
Pro Tips
Use full fat milk for the richest, creamiest pudding
Use unsalted butter because it prevents the pudding from becoming too salty
Whisk constantly because it prevents any lumps from forming and keeps the pudding super smooth
Mix together egg yolks and cornstarch separately- This is very important because it keeps any lumps from forming when you add it into the milk mixture.
Cook on medium heat—This prevents the milk from boiling over and the pudding cooks more evenly
Homemade pudding vs. Store-bought pudding boxes—The store-bought version is a quick and convenient option when you are short on time. Just color it blue and then, layer as you like.
Use mini marshmallows because regular marshmallows are too large to fit into small cups
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days (do not freeze)
“Oh c’mon, a lot of people drink mineral water. It’s come a long way.”
The Scene: JD again concocts a planted “suicide” of Kurt and Ram by arming his toolkit with “homosexual artifacts” including an issue of Stud Puppy, a candy dish, Joan Crawford postcard, mascara, and of course—Mineral water. (J.D. is of course a despicable character and this scene only hits it home more).
Fun Fact: In ancient times, people believed mineral water was a gift from heaven and used it to treat the sick. Mineral water can also be used in cosmetology to improve blood supply, tone the skin, and provide a massage-like effect.

Today we will be making:
Mineral Water Cocktail (aka Ranch Water Cocktail)
Essentially a tall tequila soda with extra lime, the ranch water is more than the sum of its parts. If you use a great tequila and Topo Chico, it tastes quite special.
Ingredients
½ ounces silver (blanco) tequila
1 ounce fresh lime juice, plus lime wedges for serving
Teeny tiny pinch of fine salt
Sparkling water, preferably Topo Chico or Mineragua
Directions
Fill a tall glass to the brim with ice. Pour in the tequila and lime juice. Add a tiny sprinkle of salt to bring out the flavors.
Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water. Gently stir once with a spoon to mix. Add a lime wedge and serve at once.
Why This Recipe Works
The ranch water is like a bubbly, light and totally unsweetened margarita. If even “skinny” margaritas are sometimes too sweet for you, try a ranch water instead. It’s super refreshing and perfect on a hot day
The salt is optional, but really boosts the overall flavor of the cocktail. Try your drink without it and then with it to taste the difference.
Pro Tips
Tequila blanco (like Casamigas, Espalon and Milagro) is standard in ranch waters.. Tequila blanco is also known as tequila plata, or white or silver tequila in English. Since it’s bottled soon after it’s distilled, it offers the purest tequila flavor and is generally colorless. If you have a reposado or añejo (aged) tequila that you love, by all means, try it
Topo Chico, with its plentiful tiny bubbles, is perfect for ranch waters. Mineragua is another Mexican sparkling water that is just as good. Otherwise, you can use any unflavored sparkling water or club soda
Fresh-squeezed lime, and lots of it, is the only way to go! No stale store-bought lime juice, please. To get the most lime juice from your lime, roll it firmly under your hand against the countertop before slicing. Room temperature citrus yields more than refrigerated
